Notre association se tient prête à se porter partie civile.
En effet, c’est le drame judiciaire d’une enquête médiévale devant un Tribunal militaire sur l’assassinat atroce du journaliste Martinez Zogo, qui dure depuis de nombreux mois maintenant, malgré les accusations renouvelées et maintenues des militants camerounais des droits de l’Homme selon lesquelles la recherche de la vérité par le procureur dans l’affaire Zogo a été entravée par le harcèlement, l’intimidation, l’étouffement, les représailles et l’obstruction du système judiciaire sous l’autorité de M. Laurent Esso.
Car il y a clairement un conflit d’intérêts en jeu ici, lorsque la personne qui supervise le pouvoir judiciaire utilise son pouvoir et son influence pour essayer d’être à la fois juge et partie.
Les motivations de l’homme et sa campagne transparente d’intimidation de la justice afin de désamorcer – ou du moins de distraire – les accusations portées contre lui sont pleinement exposées aux yeux de tous malgré sa forte emprise sur la justice camerounaise.
En conséquence, alors que M. Esso ne peut ignorer que le Cameroun est signataire du Statut de Rome instituant notamment la Cour pénale internationale en 1998, la question évidente ici est que le gouvernement camerounais responsable du meurtre atroce de M. Martinez Zogo n’a ni la capacité ni la volonté d’enquêter contre lui-même.
Nous nous tenons prêts à engager une action civile car les termes du traité de Rome s’appliquent dans le cas de Zogo. La Cour pénale internationale n’existe que pour affirmer sa compétence lorsqu’un pays n’a pas enquêter sur ses propres ressortissants pour les infractions les plus graves.
Par conséquent, notre organisation encourage et soutiendra l’enquête de la Cour sur cet assassinat atroce, parce que c’est pour cela que la Cour internationale a été créée, c’est-à-dire pour enquêter sur des crimes internationaux qui n’ont pas fait l’objet d’une enquête fiable par le pays qui les a commis. Il nous appartient donc de l’y aider en conformité avec nos missions et c’est pourquoi notre association devra inévitablement au moins se porter partie civile.

Cameroon, Never Again!

Indeed, this legal drama in the medieval investigation into the atrocious assassination of Martinez Zogo, which has been going on for many months now, and by the accusations by Cameroonian human rights activists that the search for truth by the prosecutor in the Zogo case has been hampered by Mr. Laurent Esso’s harassment, intimidation, smothering, retaliation and obstruction of the judicial system under his authority.
Thus, there is clearly a conflict of interest at play here when the person overseeing the judiciary uses their power and influence trying to be both judge and judged.
The man’s motives and his transparent campaign to intimidate justice in order to defuse – or at least distract – the charges against him are on full display for everyone despite his strong grip on Cameroonian justice
Accordingly, while Mr. Esso cannot ignore that Cameroon is a signatory to the International Criminal Court which was established in 1998 by an international agreement called the Rome Statute, the determinative issue here is that the Cameroonian government responsible for the atrocious murder of Mr. Martinez Zogo has neither the ability nor the will to investigate himself.
We might therefore take civil action because the terms of the Treaty of Rome apply in the case of Zogo. The International Criminal Court only exists to assert its jurisdiction when a country has failed to investigate its own nationals for the most serious offences.
Therefore, our organization will support the Court’s investigation into this atrocious murder, because that is what the International Court was created for, that is to investigate international crimes that have not been under investigation by the country that committed them, then we should help it and that is why our association is ready to file a civil action.
