Le comble de l’ironie réside dans le fait que ce sont les propres « créatures » du régime qui compilent elles-mêmes ces archives — des archives qui contribuent non seulement à l’érosion de la prétendue « légitimité » du régime du Nnôm Ngui, mais aussi à l’effondrement de son contrat social avec les Camerounais ordinaires : un contrat qui a sombré dans une nécropolitique chaque jour plus manifeste, laissant dans son sillage une trainée de documents accablants.
La leçon la plus importante du martyr d’Ekane est que la résistance n’est jamais vaine, car les autocraties et les autocrates vieillissent mal ; ils ont tendance à se fossiliser et à réagir aux défis inattendus avec une rigidité croissante.
En effet ils réagissent à chaque nouveau défi avec toujours plus de brutalité et d’aveuglement, pour finir par se retrouver piégés dans la réalité virtuelle qu’ils avaient eux-mêmes créée.
C’est précisément ainsi qu’ils s’effacent de l’histoire pour se jeter tout droit dans ses poubelles. C’est aussi la raison pour laquelle le Dr Martin Luther King affirme que l’arc moral de l’histoire est long, mais qu’il tend vers la justice.

The incitement to hatred and premeditated murder by propagandists of the dictatorship, who gloated over the arbitrary detention of opposition figure Anicet Georges Ekane.
It must be recalled that the latter died just a few weeks later, following a deliberate and prolonged deprivation of medical care.
Their complicity—at the very least passive—in political assassination must inevitably be held against them, as well as against many others.
The height of irony lies in the fact that it is the regime’s own “creatures” who are themselves compiling these archives—archives that contribute not only to the erosion of the Nnom Ngui regime’s purported “legitimacy,” but also to the collapse of its social contract with ordinary Cameroonians: a contract that has descended into a necropolitics becoming more manifest by the day, leaving in its wake a trail of incriminating documents.
The first lesson of Ekane’s martyrdom is that resistance is never in vain, for autocracies and autocrats age poorly; they tend to ossify and to react to unexpected challenges with increasing rigidity.
They react to every new challenge with ever-increasing brutality and blindness, only to end up trapped in the virtual reality they themselves had created.
It is precisely in this way that they fade from history, only to cast themselves straight into its dustbins. This is also the reason why Dr. MLK asserts that the moral arc of history is long, but that it bends toward justice.
