Abolir l’Intolérable

C’est une situation très triste pour nos prisonniers politiques qui doivent survivre encore une année de martyre dans les cachots du dictateur Paul Biya. Des détenus qui représentent une génération de militants piégés dans le système pénitentiaire labyrinthique du pays sans fin en vue et où ils risquent de mourir dans des mouroirs concentrationnaires que notre organisation trouve intolérables faisant de nous une organisation dépeinte par la satrapie comme intolérante car très active contre son intolérance.

En effet, les peines cruelles et inhumaines sont des peines considérées comme inacceptables en raison des souffrances, douleurs ou humiliations qu’elles infligent aux personnes soumises à des peines légales mais despotiques comme au Cameroun.

Ainsi, nous dirigeons une organisation “abolitionniste” dont le but est de tenir le monde informé constamment sur la condition des prisonniers politiques, et de construire un réseau mondial de solidarité où l’information joue un rôle essentiel sur la base des faits sociaux et la voix des prisonniers politiques emblématiques; couplée avec une action participative pour contribuer à abolir cette situation particulièrement intolérable.

Le but ici est donc de déployer des stratégies contre-discursives pour remodeler les discours autoritaires afin d’aider à lever les lois d’exception et de faire un petit pas vers l’atténuation des lois draconiennes régissant la protestation, la liberté d’expression et la société civile imposées par les dictateurs. En effet les lois d’urgence notamment intégrées dans une législation antiterroriste radicale étaient principalement adoptées pour cibler les dissidents pacifiques, les potentiels concurrents présidentiels de l’intérieur et les vrais opposants politiques.

Ces lois despotiques doivent prendre fin !

L’ICL2P reconnaît que la voie de l’autocratie de Biya n’a jamais été tracée à l’avance. Une trajectoire historique différente avait été possible, notamment celle pour laquelle nous luttons et qui transforme notre patrie en un pays uniquement démocratique, humain et éclairé pour lequel nos patriotes ont donné leur sang pendant la guerre d’indépendance.

To Abolish the Intolerable

It is a very sad situation for our political prisoners who must survive yet another year of martyrdom in the dungeons of Biya. Inmates who represent a generation of activists trapped in the country’s labyrinthine prison system with no end in sight and where they risk dying in concentration camps that our organization finds intolerable making us an intolerant active organization against intolerance.

Indeed, cruel and unusual penalties are penalties considered unacceptable because of the suffering, pain or humiliation they inflict on people subject to legal but despotic punishment.

Thus, we run an organization whose aim is to keep the world informed about the condition of political prisoners and to build a global information network where information plays a material discourse based on social facts and the voice of political prisoners who count coupled with participatory action to help make this situation intolerable.

The goal here is to deploy counter-discursive strategies to reshape authoritarian discourses to help lifting emergency laws and providing a small step towards mitigating draconian laws governing protest, free expression and civil society imposed by dictators. Emergency laws embedded in sweeping anti-terrorism legislation used primarily to target peaceful dissidents.

These despotic laws must end!

The ICL2P recognizes that the path of Biya’s autocracy has never been mapped out in advance. A different historical trajectory had been possible, notably that for which we are fighting and which transforms our homeland into a uniquely democratic, human and enlightened country for which our patriots gave their blood during the war of independence.
