Emotional Politics and the culture of Permanent Insecurity in Yaoundé
The naturalization of violence in Cameroonian politics is nothing new for the astute observers who follow the work of civil rights organization such as the CL2P.
This new form of normalcy is having been germinated by a regime of Yaoundé fueled by oppressive discipline, brutality and norms of exception which create a culture of permanent insecurity, particularly, for those perceived to be against the regime. Thus, a political culture with no place for empathy and compassion but rigid and soulless top down ossified and calcified lethal hierarchy.
Now, with the recent massacre of Kumba, we have a situation of chicken coming home to roost. Thus, as the recent massacre of Kumba, ordinary Cameroonians are reaping the lethal culture of permanent insecurity sowed by the regime of Yaoundé necropolitics.
This is the draconian context in the Republic of Cameroon, where children perished in an attack attributed by the authorities in Yaoundé to the so-called “secessionist” militias …
Note that the same authorities do not rush to initiate an independent investigation and paradoxically raise this inappropriate accusation of the “illegality” of the school; as if to evade any responsibility in the particularly murderous stagnation of a civil war that they declared to other Cameroonian citizens in civil disobedience …
Ah, we must not raise it, at a time when we must all denounce “the English-speaking terrorists” in unison without any investigation report, while keeping our brains dormant, as the tyrant and his griots would like, very very very patriotic.
We must also say to these bloodthirsty fools of the Yaoundé regime and their followers that can they understand that cynicism has limits, and that the murder of children should not lead to feigned emotion???
We frankly doubt it, so much they cannot resist the temptation of unhealthy manipulation at the end of this umpteenth appalling massacre in an English-speaking area that is difficult to conceal.
At the CL2P, we are aware that the regime has lost its innocence a long time ago.
