Cameroun: traitements inhumains et dégradants des prisonniers politiques communément présentés comme des « prisonniers de luxe »
La vérité après l’évacuation de l’industriel Yves Michel Fotso, puis de l’ancien premier ministre Inoni Ephraïm voudrait que l’on dise enfin aux Camerounais que nombre de ces prisonniers politiques communément présentés comme des « prisonniers de luxe », à l’instar de l’ancien secrétaire général à la Présidence de la République Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara admis aux urgences à Yaoundé, du Ministre d’État Marafa Hamidou Yaya (qui a partagé la même chambre d’hospitalisation que M. Fosto), des anciens ministres Polycarpe Abah Abah, Urbain Olanguena Awono, et bien d’autres encore sont tous dans un état de santé critique, voire parfois à l’article de la mort, nécessitant pour tous des évacuations en urgence pour raisons humanitaires.
Nous arrivons en effet à la limite d’une propagande malsaine officielle, endossée puis répandue par l’écrasante majorité des Camerounais, qui a notamment consisté à banaliser la détention arbitraire de certaines personnalités, maintenues dans des conditions particulièrement dégradantes et inhumaines parfois dans des casernes de l’armée, car suspectées d’être de potentiels rivaux à l’omnipotent dictateur Paul Biya.
Qui devra assumer la responsabilité de tous ces meurtres perpétrés en silence au nom de la prétendue lutte – au demeurant légitime – contre la corruption endémique au Cameroun? Pas uniquement Paul Biya …Parce que nous alertons l’opinion publique camerounaise et internationale sur cette triste réalité depuis au moins deux (02) décennies, et constatons amèrement les ravages de la mémoire sélective sur fond de compassion ethno-tribale, dans un pays où le crime de sang est aujourd’hui profondément ancré dans les mœurs politiques.
Et certains ont fait semblant de s’étonner de l’intolérance affichée par ce régime à l’égard de son principal opposant Maurice Kamto et à tous ses camarades d’infortune …. Qu’ils entérinent enfin que dans une tyrannie implacable comme celle-ci, personne n’est en réalité à l’abri de l’arbitraire judiciaire et carcéral, au pire de la mort subite ou en détention.

Inhuman and degrading treatment of political prisoners commonly referred to as « luxury prisoners » in Yaoundé
The harsh truth is that the recent evacuation abroad of industrialist Yves Michel Fotso and former Prime minister Ephraïm Inoni is the tip of the iceberg of a very serious problem. The reality is that many of these political prisoners commonly presented as « luxury prisoners », like the former General Secretary of the Presidency Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara, the Senior Minister Marafa Hamidou Yaya (who shared the same hospital ward in recent months as Mr. Fosto), the former Economics and Finance Minister Polycarpe Abah Abah, and many others are all in a state of critical health, and, even on the brink of death, all requiring urgent evacuations for humanitarian reasons.
This, of course, is the way that the official and unhealthy Biya’s regime propaganda works. They lie to and spread overwhelming propaganda to the majority of Cameroonians, held into a Stockholm syndrome with the regime, trivializing the arbitrary detention of certain personalities, maintained in particularly degrading and inhuman conditions, such as the SED, an oppressive dungeon of the Cameroonian army. This is simply because, these high civil servants are suspected of being potential rivals to the omnipotent dictator Paul Biya and which carry a crime of lese-majesty.
There is no indication that the Biya’s regime is taking responsibility for all these murders perpetrated silently in the name of the so-called fighting – albeit legitimate – endemic corruption in Cameroon? We also know that the Biya’s regime alone cannot do it successfully …
The CL2P broke this scandalous news to ordinary Cameroonians and the international public opinion on this sad reality for at least two (02) decades. Now, we are left to bitterly witness the ravages of selective memory on the background of ethno-tribal politics and lack of compassion, in a country where the crime of blood is today deeply rooted in political mores.
And some are thus astonished to be surprised by the intolerant fate reserved by this regime to its main opponent Maurice Kamto and all his comrades of misfortune.
Finally, in an implacable tyranny like this, no one is in reality immune from legal despotism and inhumane prison conditions, if not, at worst from death in detention.
